Brothers and Sisters of the

Peninsula-Delaware Conference:

We need to lift up in prayer all those affected by this devastating hurricane. The news has shown us the extensive damage Hurricane Helene has caused. Homes, businesses, and churches have suffered severe damage, with some beyond repair. Many are now homeless and living in temporary shelters. Some are even missing family members. Many will not be returning to work because their workplaces have been destroyed or severely damaged. Our prayers extend to them and to those tirelessly working to rescue, assist, and assess the full extent of the damage. We can make a difference.

The best way we can assist right now, until specific needs are identified, is to pray, AND when possible, send monetary donations to UMCOR. Let us come together and make a difference.

Early Wednesday, Tropical Storm Ernesto will be upgraded to Hurricane Ernesto. The hurricane season is not over until December. We have several months to go. So, let’s stay prepared and be ready to help. Some of our churches have started making Cleaning Buckets, Hygiene kits, and the new Feminine Hygiene kits. You can help too.

These kits can be stored in your church for community or conference needs. For assembly instructions, please visit UMCOR’s or our Conference website, or refer to the information below.

UMCOR deployed personnel to many of the affected areas as soon as it was safe to travel. Reports are still coming in, detailing the extent of damage to lives and properties. The way of life for all those affected will be significantly altered, many permanently. Let us offer our assistance!
